Water is life’s matter and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water. When the wells dry, we know the worth of water. “The earth, the air, the land, and the water are not an inheritance from our forefathers but on loan from our children. So we have to handover to them at least as it was handed over to us.” – Gandhi. Water is the driving force of all nature. Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.
In Israel,49 percent of the total water use is from groundwater, 33 percent from surface water (extraction from the Jordan River) and 13 percent from treated wastewater and 5 percent from desalination plants. About two third of the water use is for irrigation. About 90 percent of the fresh water resources have been incorporated into a single system that enables implementation of a uniform national policy of water production and regular supply to the different sectors of consumers. This also means that water from different sources is mixed and transported over long distances.
The only truly dependable production technologies are those that are sustainable over the long term. By that very definition, they must avoid erosion, pollution, environmental degradation, and resource waste. Any rational food-production system will emphasize the well-being of the soil-air-water biosphere, the creatures which inhabit it, and the human beings who depend upon it. At KE0759, we value every drop of water by practically either utilizing it or safely storing it. We currently have 50,192.69 gallons of stored harvested rain water which is equivalent to 190,000 litres and we too pump at least 20, 000 litres of water weekly for the church/FCP use especially for horticultural farming using solar energy which is both environmental and pocket friendly. And we have a water selling point, just outside the church compound inorder to sell to the sorrounding community members at a subsidized price to enhance project ownership and generate money to boast FCP survival ratio hence increased sustainability span. The virtual that we are located in an arid area doesn’t qualify us neither to be pessimistic nor remain at a mediocrity level! Superiority is our portion in Jesus mighty name. Thinking without the box is our culture. We have adopted sprinkler system of irrigation at our FCP demonstration garden, a thing that we are scratching our heads on how we are going to expand that portion to a mega one for horticultural farming. We have tasked the patron and the church leadership to avail for us more land and they positively bought the idea and they are in the process of buying 3 acres for the expansion, God willing by January 2021 we will be in possession of 3 more acres of church land. We are an oasis within a desert by God’s Grace.
